In 1960, 34% of the world’s population lived in cities; by 2014 it had grown to 54% (according to WHO). And this number keeps growing. It is a big challenge for the future to ensure quality of life for people in an increasingly urbanized world. In mid-November, the most innovative companies and cities from around the world gathered in Barcelona to exchange practices and know-how and to inspire one another in building better cities supported by modern technologies.
Smart City Expo 2017, one of the biggest events of its kind in the world, welcomed this year 675 exhibitors, 700 city representatives, and 420 speakers from 120 countries. Deutsche Telekom, the biggest European telecommunications operator, whose integrated services and product portfolio includes solutions for Smart cities as an important element, could not miss this event.
Besides population growth, climate change, lack of available housing, education, health services, migrants´ integration, pollution, solutions for traffic problems, including parking, will be key topics for cities in the coming decades. The ParkDots solution from PosAm is designed especially for a more effective solution to static traffic, i.e. parking. This modern cloud and mobile solution held that much interest in Barcelona that it will be included in Deutsche Telekom’s portfolio, as part of the portfolio for Smart cities.
“Cities in different countries around the world, including Slovakia, are being faced with similar challenges. Traffic, including whilst static, is one of the biggest issues. The newest cloud, IoT and mobile technologies offer opportunities to improve the situation. At PosAm we not only follow up on this tendency, but we also actively respond to it. We are glad that our ParkDots solution also confirmed its qualities on the level of Deutsche Telekom group, which PosAm is part of“ said Martin Budaj, PosAm Product Manager.
